It is important also to understand that Jesus saving you is not a process. When you ask Him, He will save you at that moment. The following post shows how Mormonism’s Jesus is not the same as the Scriptural Jesus. <br />http://downtownministries.blogspot.com/2016/12/taking-god-seriously-romans-34.html<br />http://downtownministries.blogspot.com/2015/09/a-different-jesus.html<br />After Jesus saves you, you become His child forever. Reading the Bible will help you to understand how to walk as His child. In reading the Word of God on a regular basis, it will also help you to recognize false teaching or counterfeit teaching when it comes along.<br />Not knowing where you are from I would not know what church to recommend to you. I would suggest first asking God to direct you to the right one. Generally, Baptist or interdenominational would be good. Look for them online and read their statement of faith. Make sure they are teaching the Bible. It is okay to call them and ask questions. If any of them have a problem with the questions you ask, that would be a church to stay away from.<br />Because my wife and I travel a lot as a result of the work I do, we don’t often have the opportunity to get involved in a local church. We do, however, listen to Alistair Begg on the internet. He is a great Biblical preacher with sound Biblical preaching. Following is his facebook address:<br />https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=truth%20for%20life%20with%20alistair%20begg<br />Scripturally, baptism does not save you. Baptism is making a public confession of what Jesus has already done for you when you accept Him as your Savior. Your old self would have died with Him and you would have been raised in newness of life.<br />God bless you. My wife and I will be praying for you.<br />Downtown Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06500162214861829196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8152622293008763317.post-64068636583368040062016-11-10T06:41:33.838-08:002016-11-10T06:41:33.838-08:00Hi Dave,

I was brought up LDS and am currently not attending due to some serious doubts I have. But one thing I can't understand now that I have distanced myself from the LDS church is what the difference is between following Jesus and reading the Bible and the process of being saved outside of Mormonism versus inside. Many Christian writers I've read don't seem to mind which Protestant church you choose as long as you proclaim Jesus as your savior. I'm at this crossroads where I still consider myself a Christian--was baptized (as a Mormon, but still as far as I am concerned--it was a real commitment to Jesus at that time for me). I just wonder if it really matters your church affiliation as long as you disavow the false prophet? I know it probably sounds weird. I just don't really see how my worship of Jesus will change. My entire family is LDS and I feel that if I'm following and worshipping only biblical Jesus and Jehovah that it doesn't matter which church community I am in? Could you give me some insight? Thank you so much.Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13037451523386639350noreply@blogger.com
